Have you heard of the Madivian Manta ray project?
This is a project launched to coordinate research and conservation of Mantas in the Maldives, and now the Six Senses Laamu is a part of this amazing project. The exciting part?? Well, if you are an experienced diver, you can join this project's team and learn how to dive in to the spots where Mantas are found in abundance.
This needs to be done in a sustainable manner so you will be given special instructions. Each Manta is identified individually for their uniqueness, much like identifying people with their fingerprints. These identified creatures are named and labeled to keep monitoring their wellbeing and behavior. The coolest part is that, if you identify one during your dive, you get to name your very own Manta! Exciting right? What an amazing way to conserve these intriguing species..
