While there are plenty of accommodations in the Maldives, you will experience something unique at the Soneva Jani as it’s probably one of the most beautiful resorts you’ll ever come across. This idyllic resort is settled in Noonu Atoll in Northern part of the Maldives with unscathed natural beauty, pristine beaches and peaceful atmospheres.
You can reach Soneva Jani in a matter of 45 minutes on a seaplane flight direct from Malé International Airport and that too will be quite a ride with the blue hues of the Indian Ocean right throughout. Even after reaching the resort island you’ll be surrounded by the clear blue waters, perfect for the thalassophile in you.
Leave your bags at the door as you’re about to embark on an adventurous journey at Soneva Jani. Two bedroom water retreats open up to the translucent lagoon that will make you feel like you were transported to the other side of the world. A private pool overlooking the lagoon and a waterslide that glides you to the water right outside your room.
The room on the first floor is equipped with a retractable roof opening up to the skies which is just perfect to watch the stars in the night and the interior is just done right with eye pleasing colours opening up to the views of the lagoon.
You’ll be at a loss for words as the Water reserve with slide that has three and four rooms are spacious and as luxurious as it can get with the outdoor deck opening up to the lagoon, Sala to dine under the stars.
The Island Reserve rooms with multiple bedrooms are as spacious as mansions, a steam bath, sauna and a wine cellar to enjoy a glass in the outdoor living area if you please. It’s truly a travelers dream come true.
Voyage out and about around the island, taste some local food as some of the world class chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants visit the resort occasionally and there are so many dining options to choose from. Head out to Crab shack and try out the Sri Lankan Mud crab curry which is out of this world and breakfast at the So Fresh with a generous breakfast buffet.
We also heard that they have a dining experience for just 20 guests at the So Imaginative where they host wine dinners with some of the best sommeliers. You ought to try out their fresh cocktails and tapas at the main bar overlooking waters, The Gathering Bar which is open till the last man standing. So Cool and so Guilty are their dessert bars serving up handmade chocolate and home-made ice cream and sorbets which will be the perfect treat with flavours such as local toddy with sea salt ice cream to beat the heat. You can also opt-in to dine in your own villa but I just loved exploring the restaurants as each had their own unique twist to it.
After so much adventure in the island head out to Soneva Spa where you can just leave behind everything and enjoy a massage that will leave you speechless and the in-house therapists just know what’s best for you with so much care and detail going to each treatment.
Experience a real life Cinema Paradiso where favourite movie is screened right outside on a huge screen overlooking the ocean and while you’re at it, you’ll be offered complementary ice cream and popcorn to go with it. Apart from these chilled out activities you also get snorkeling, kite surfing, paddle boarding and sailing and if you’re up for it, you can also little picnic on a dessert island with your favourite snacks and refreshing drinks prepared by the in-house chefs.
