A handshake from staff members lining up at the arrival jetty, neatly-rolled cold hand towels and specially concocted drinks are norms for welcoming guests in any resort in the Maldives.
Jumeirah Vittaveli, however, takes the welcome ceremony further. It may be only as simple as a handmade necklace with a pendant of intricately woven coconut leaf but most guests I guess would feel they are truly VVIPs when Jumeirah staff place it around their neck and take a picture of them wearing it. The picture which is later presented to guests as a souvenir is also ingeniously used as a tool for enabling staff members to greet guests by name. Talk about personalized greetings!
Every villa in Jumeirah Vittaveli comes with a private pool and direct access to either the white sandy beaches or the cerulean open ocean.
Having visited and stayed at more than twenty-five resorts in the Maldives I would say that the water villa I stay in at Jumeirah Vittaveli is one of the most beautiful and classy water villas I have ever stayed in.
It is where the elegant classic interior concept meets contemporary furniture design. The centerpiece of the spacious bedroom is a king size bed with a canopy draped with a white lacy net that emphasizes the romantic and elegant flair of the whole room.
Opposite the bed beautified with soothing white and blue decorative pillows and covering are panels of glass doors. These see-through doors do not only heighten the spaciousness of the villa but also deliver a spectacular sight of Maldivian blue deep waters and skies and the shimmering infinity private pool.
Chilling out in the sitting area outside the bedroom, I can see fish swimming and small waves breaking underneath my feet through a large square panel of tempered glass on the floor.
Dining experience at this resort will not be complete without savoring meals at Samsara, the all-day dining restaurant whose trademark roof comes in a dramatic style of architecture. I wish I could freeze the moments I enjoy my breakfast and lunch there.
Savoring the sumptuous cuisines accompanied by breezy ocean air with the backdrop of gorgeous Ocean Suites that seem to be floating on the open ocean is one of my cherished moments at this resort.
Lounging around or in the L-shaped common pool to soak up the spectacular seascape at picture perfect spots when dusk falls is an idea of paradise you should experience first hand.
Watching stingrays being fed by a resort worker near the arrival jetty is a rare entertainment enjoyed by young and old. Although this is not my first close-up encounter with the marine creatures, I am still amused watching them enjoying their food and having fun with the worker.
Being well-known as a family friendly resort that keeps making sure its young guests will have moments as memorable as their parents’, Jumeirah Vittaveli is developing a treasure trail project as the latest addition to the kids’ club programs.
