The Maldives Ship Wreck

The Maldives Ship Wreck

If your are staying in Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru and diving is your thing, then this is a must visit resort - take the leap underwater with a diving team to explore their very own shipwreck just inbetween the islands Vabbinfaru and Ihuru!

This artificial wreck was sunken there in 1999 and got a mysterious name Rannamaari that refers to local folk stories of a sea demon who is known for haunting the people of the Maldives since time began.

Apart from meeting a sea demon, you can find lots of very special fish nearby the ship. The area came to be a hunting ground for a wide variety of fish: giant moray eels, groupers, scorpion fish, bat fish, squirrel fish, nurse sharks and of course stingrays.

Moreover The Rannamaari wreck is simply surrounded with magnificent corals - from soft corals to sun corals with spectacular colours that can be observed especially during night dives.

To be honest I can't wait to get my PADI certificate and come back to Vabbinfaru to explore island's surroundings from a deep waters view once again. Lifetime memories guaranteed!
